Led by Executive Chef Abhi Sainju of Abhi Eatery + Bar and Maro, Surf Hound is a coastal-inspired restaurant that offers high-quality food in a low-key setting. Pulling inspiration from retro surf culture, the restaurant is located in the heart of Mountain Brook Village in Birmingham, AL.

Leveraging local ingredients and purveyors, Surf Hound’s menu is designed to have something for everyone, whether it be young families after a soccer game, couples on a date night, or the happy hour crew.

When creating the menu, Sainju was inspired by his Asian roots and the beaches of his youth, like Pattaya in Thailand, as he developed menu standouts like Crab Fried Rice and the infamous Surf Hound Burger, which is marinated for 24 hours before it hits the grill. The complementary beverage menu pulls from nostalgic beach classics and elevates them, as evidenced in Surf Hound’s Frosé. To transport guests to a relaxed beach setting, Surf Hound’s design intentionally balances chic and relaxed elements, encouraging guests to come as they are. With white-washed walls and surfboards throughout the interior, the restaurant also offers an expansive patio and televisions to watch the big game. In all that it does, Surf Hound wants guests to be who they are at the beach: relaxed, happy, and in the moment.
